“We had Lisa in August [2004], so she comes along when I walk my older two kids to school each day. The last part of the walk is across the schoolyard, which has been muddy all Fall and will become impassable with the stroller come winter. With my fleece and Gore-Tex jacket inserts, I can carry her in the baby carrier knowing that she is cosy and warm. I like the idea that she is sharing my body heat, rather than being bundled outside my coat in her own bulky winter clothes.”

Zipping a waterproof-breathable insert all the way up as shown here should be done only when absolutely necessary and special precautions must be taken to keep fresh air coming to the baby in this situation. See instructions for details. Jennifer, modeling the first Gore-tex insert prototype

“The [Gore-tex] insert was excellent and I used it very often to go for walks in all weathers when my baby was under 7 kilos and I carried her on my front. We used it through the winter down to minus 20 degrees Celcius, adding layers under our jackets and putting the baby's feet in warm booties, and in the spring when it was windy and wet. It meant that we could explore everywhere any time - over snow covered sidewalks and rough trails, through snow, wind, rain and brilliant sunshine.”

“I don’t know what I would have done without the insert. Alexander was born in the fall and the weather around here can be pretty nasty and unpredictable. Thanks to the insert, I was able to go out hiking with him in his baby carrier almost daily throughout the winter of 2003-2004 knowing that we were both well protected.”

- Sarah (Peebles, Scotland)
